The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party held a successful Western and Nyanza Second National Aspirants and regional Leadership Forum at Sosa Cottages, Vihiga County on Monday 24th 2021. The meeting that came amidst leadership wrangles that threaten the stability of the party allied to Deputy President William Ruto saw UDA bigwigs including Chairman Johnstone Muthama, Former Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale, Eliud Owalo, Bungoma Gubernatorial aspirant Sophie N. Waliaula and SG Veronica Maina attend.

UDA party Chairman, Senator Johnstone Muthama;

Muthama started his address by narrating his horrific battle with Covid-19 before turning to preaching the UDA gospel to the hundreds of participants coming from Western and Nyanza regions. The former Machakos Senator reiterated the fact that everyone in UDA leadership must be ready to use own resources to run the operations of the party in their backyards. He asked members to ensure the right people contest on the party ticket, people that the flagbearer would work with when he takes office.

Muthama informed members that the DP has never indicated that he wants to be the Party’s flag bearer but is on record pushing for change of leadership style

UDA party Secretary General Veronica Maina while presiding over presiding over the Second National Aspirants and Leaders Forum asked members ran members thru nominations;

  • She encouraged more women to contest for elective seats
  • Warned youths against being used as she encouraged them to use their energy, resources to better the party.
  • The Party will conduct fair nominations
  • Encouraged participants to ensure the recruitment drive goes on

Eliud Owalo took participants through UDA Party Constitution and bottoms-up economy

  • Encouraged aspirants to understand the constitution as he highlighted the following;
  • VISION; An equitably empowered Kenyan Society living in a Peaceful and United Country.
  • MISSION STATEMENT: To facilitate the fundamental Rights, Needs and Potential of the Kenyan people through a democratic, devolved and accountable government anchored on a bottoms-up economic model that promotes equal opportunities, shared prosperity and improved economic welfare.

  • Look for money but don’t sell yourself as a rich candidate. Spend wisely
