Bizarre accident;

The accident occurred on Wednesday, 24 February 2021 at about 03:00hours when a Toyota Caldina cream in color reg. No. KBK 816Y flew over a temporary barrier (heap of soil) mounted by the dual carriage contractor to bar vehicles coming from New Nyanza/Co-operative side from accessing Keringet junction which is under construction. While airborne some taxi operators including Kevin Kundu, Munai, Njoroge and OCS tried to run away but the vehicle rammed into 3 vehicles; Moses Barasa’s KAX 784M–, Kevin Kundu’s KCM 918b and a KCC  Njoroge and OCS before getting to the OCS who found himself trapped under the vehicle taking direct heat from the exhaust pipe with a broken leg and Njoroge’s leg got stuck between cars.

OCS and Njoroge were rushed to Bungoma Referral Hospital where they were admitted with Njoroge being discharged the following day with a plastered leg and OCS after two weeks on wooden crutches.

Police towed the Caldina KBK 816Y to the police station where it stayed for only 3 days before the driver Mr. Ronald Mchete Mugera was allowed to pick it

Rejoinder;

Ronald informs #iKUWEiKUWE that he had just replaced his front brake pads and therefore the vehicle developed mechanical problems causing the regrettable accident. He went ahead to indicate that the court procedures for the case were concluded for he was fined and therefore what’s remaining is the insurance coming through to pay the victims. “The road construction site had NO signage too” said the remorseful Ronald.

Police report

#iKUWEiKUWE Corner;

  • I wish Henry Wanyonyi a speedy recovery
  • As I streamed the senator’s donation I’d not stop wondering why he was using WOODEN crutches. OCS has been instrumental in campaigns for leaders who have the capacity to return favors.
  • Lack of proper signage has its fair share of blame for accidents along the dual carriage construction site. Something should be done.
