Amref Health Africa whose mission is to increase sustainable health access to communities in Africa through solutions in human resources for health, health services delivery and investments in health has pledged to supply and install 500 Oxygen cylinders to 5 beneficiary facilities in Bungoma County. The 5 facilities listed to benefit are:
- Webuye Sub County Hospital- Webuye West Sub County
- Sirisia Sub County Hospital, – Sirisia Sub County
- Miendo dispensary – Webuye West Sub County
- Chwele Sub County Hospital – Kabuchai Sub County
- Cheptais Sub County Hospital- Mt Elgon Sub County
Bungoma governor Ken Lusaka’s announcement on this pledge via his social media page attracted both positive and negative reactions from his followers. His announcement read in part:
We agreed that it’s high time health is tackled by going back to the basics which implies investment towards making primary healthcare functional and accessible to all. I further reiterated my commitment towards co-creating Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) for primary healthcare, as it is a holistic and innovative approach towards financing healthcare.We also discussed matters Climate change where formally invited Amref to partner with the county government once the climate change Bill is passed by the County Assembly of Bungoma this week.
