How Njuri Ncheke’s ultimatum prompted a mass transfer of DCCs

On 8 Jan 2022 the Njuri Ncheke held a demonstration and later gaveĀ  the Kenyan government a 14-day ultimatum to transfer Tigania East DCC following several bizarre murders of residents by unknown assailants failure to which they’d then take matters into their own hands. They accused local authorities of working with assailants who are never brought to book despite the numerous police reports.

The protests prompted a chain reaction of events including numerous security meetings at different ranks that resolved to make changes requested by Tigania East residents. My rat in the corridors of power indicates that the protests came in good time since the govt also needed to do a major shakeup in readiness to elections so it proceeded to make changes once and for all.

On 11 Feb 2022 Principal Secretary / Interior and Citizen Services Dr. (Eng) Karanja Kibicho released a circular that informed regional Commissioners of the immediate transfer of Deputy County Commissioners. In the communication Kibicho indicated that the transfer of the said DCCs had been agreed upon for implementation.
