“We are experiencing tough times but our government is not cognisant of what we are going through even in these #Covid times” Says one Matatu official

Police try to disperse demonstrators

In a rejoinder a senior revenue official told #iKUWEiKUWE Updates… “Today we impounded PSV vehicles in Webuye (2) and Kabuchai (2) prompting them to gang up with those in Bungoma to hold this demonstration in protest against the fee and the arrests/impounding.

Due to Covid-19 we had earlier asked then to pay Kshs. 1,700 instead of 3,500 following the #COVID-19 requirements on reduction of the number of passengers but they refused insisting on paying zero.

We have nevertheless agreed to release the vehicles as we chat a way forward.”
