The Deputy Governor, H.E Arthur Odera has officially flagged off team Busia which will represent Busia in Meru County for Kenya Inter-county Sports Association (KICOSCA) games.
While flagging off the team, DG called upon the teams to work hard and bring more trophies compared to last year.
“As much as you are going to compete, utilize the opportunity to network and make friends,” he said.
The County Executive Committee Member for Sports, Creative Arts and Gender, Paul Olunga Ekwenye stated that due to budget constraints, only four teams will represent Busia in this year’s KICOSCA games.
“We will only take football, scrabble, tug of war for ladies and men. They were selected based on their previous performance. so please do not let us down.”
He promised to lobby for more funds in the financial year 2023/2024 to accommodate all the 14 disciplines.
Head of Political Guidance and Minority Affairs, Mohamed Noor promised to give scrabble team kshs. 30,000 upon winning and the rest will receive incentives too.
The Chief Officer, Department of Sports, Creative Arts, Saviour Panyako was present too among other guests who flagged off Team Busia.
