Women fetching Water by the roadside in Bungoma County

Out of every four girls in a household, one is out searching for water. 20% of those out in search of water end up victims of rape which case have led to numerous early pregnancies, contraction of STIs, stigmatization and all the nuisance that comes with it

It has also been established that out of the women total population globally, only 18% is engaged in the water and sanitation sector. Out of this 18%, only 2 % are found at the top level management yet, Women are the most hard hit with the challenges that comes with the scarcity of Water. One Woman was heard asking how can we pretend to be championing issues of women or youth when they themselves are not well included?
