Mini Bakeries Company, producers of Supa loaf bread, have donated two disinfection booths to the County Government of Busia to assist in the fight against Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
The donations were received by Deputy Governor Moses Mulomi who said that the facilities would go a long way in assisting the County in its preventive measures against the pandemic which has caused economic distress in the Country.
Addressing journalists at the Busia One Stop Border Post on Thursday, Mulomi expressed concern over truck drivers from other counties with reported cases of Covid-19, fearing that they might compound local fight against the scourge.
“We are facing major challenges from truck drivers who transit through our county; these items will go a long way in helping us fight the disease at border points,” said Mulomi, adding that disinfection is one of the best ways in fighting Covid-19 disease.
He said that one of the booths will be placed at the Busia border point while the other will be stationed at the Alupe treatment and isolation centre.
The Deputy Governor urged the residents to uphold high standards of hygiene to avert other diseases such as typhoid, diarrhoea and dysentery.
The Chief Officer you f Health and Sanitation, Dr Isaac Omeri who accompanied the Deputy Governor, appealed to the company to also consider donating food stuffs to isolated patients at the Alupe centre as well as other quarantine facilities within the county.
Director incharge of Universal Health Care Dr David Mukabi, appreciated efforts by different partners in strengthening the fight against the disease.
The Company’s Operations Manager (Lower Western Region) Mr Yahya Suleiman said it was prudent for all the stakeholders to work together in helping to reduce the Covid-19 cases, adding that they would always be willing to assist whenever necessary.
The company is the manufacturer of assorted bakeries products including Super Loaf bread which is also produced locally in the County.
