In Summary;

  • He is not a member
  • He contributed like anyone else
  • He sidelined the leadership at the presser

“Kiongozi a county employee has hijacked our projects of helping the need by building them houses and now claims to be the one doing it…” is the statement from KABULA YOUTH FORUM (KAYOFO) CBO member that provoked this post

On Tuesday, May 26, 2020 Mr. Edwin Wamuya Walela who is NOT a member of the Youth group arrived at Mzee John Mulongo Masinde’s  Talitia village home in Kabula ward where KAYOFO was constructing a new house for him following heavy rains… The following day Wednesday, May 27, 2020 Edwin arrived with the Citizen crew and mounted a presser claiming he is the one behind the CSR projects. The few members who were present were shocked but could not says a word for fear of victimization.

Citizen TV aired it on Thursday, May 27, 2020…

KAYOFO was has been in existence for over a year and has among other things perfected in Corporate Social Responsibility. This year the CBO has repaired two houses and as well conducted an anti-jigger campaign in Kabula ward.

In a rejoinder:

  • The KAYOFO chairman, Andrew Wakhuleka shared a communication he had made on KAYOFO social media platform…

Good evening Kabula Youth Forum,Kabula Residents,

I hope this finds you well.

Our attention as KAYOFO has been drawn to a news stream aired by Citizen TV and which is trending on social media with very clear indication of an effort by one Edwin Walela to hijack our philanthropy for his own personal gain and seemingly political expediency.

Please note our disclaimer as below:

✒ KAYOFO is a non-political,not-for-profit organisation and as such does not involve in political activities. Efforts to drag it into politics is strongly condemned.

✒ The philanthropy projects we run are funded by our own personal contributions and contributions from our worthy partners. To be our partner means agreeing beforehand,to our terms, most importantly the subscription to nonpartisan service.

✒ As we appreciate Edwin Walela for his contribution of Ksh.5,000 we request that he:

  1. Stops projecting himself as KAYOFO Chair.
  2. Stops seeking praise for the person of Edwin Walela for any reasons only he knows.

KAYOFO wishes to distance itself from the publicity and seek an honest explained from Edwin Walela.

To the KAYOFO family, partners, friends and well wishers we appreciate you for having seen us walk this far. We pledge to serve well, guided by society’s best interest.

Regards,

Andrew Wakhuleka, Chair

Kabula Youth Forum(KAYOFO)
