KASEMBELI ROAD
Khalaba Ward residents were today morning shocked to find that ¾ of the Kasembeli road they’ve been using has been washed away… The contractor who constructed the drainage system did a shoddy stone-pitching job that was partly washed away within a week (see video)
The road is actually a death trap with deep holes in the middle of the road such that if it rains and water fills those holes a terrible accident can never be ruled out as the area Mukasa witnessed yesterday.
About a week ago… #iKUWEiKUWE reached out to a construction manager on the dual carriage and tabled its concerns on the road but he couldn’t do much for he himself did not know who the contractor was and was unable to help residents.
KCC – RANJE ROAD
The Contractors to this road are jokers by all means… Having been friends, business and drinking partners to governor Wangamati they have barely done half of the work they tendered to do 2 years down the line.
Residents today have asked #iKUWEiKUWE Updates to air their grievances which came in question form…
- It’s obvious that mama Heris encroached on the road… Why did the County govt push those living on the opposite side of KCC (Mama Heris’ property) while they left KCC untouched when it’s the one resting on the road reserve?
- This road needs to be wider than this… What’s so difficult with pulling down her fence in favor of public interest?
- Why was the KCC-Ranje contractor paid without completing the job? Who should be held responsible here?
- Why is the dual carriage contractor working on the KCC-Ranje road now damaging the very drainage that was made recently?
- What’s the relationship between the two contractors?
Residents also raised concerns about rain water running thru their home due to poor drainage.
They called upon the area MCA Hon. Majimbo Okumu, Roads CEC Collins Mukhongo and Governor Wangamati to ensure the road is widened and properly constructed.
In rejoinder; The area MCA, Hon Majimbo Okumu informed #iKUWEiKUWE Updates that he is in agreement with the site engineer that all affected roads will be upgraded ASAP.
