Embu County Government takes over Kenya National Library Services and assets

The Kenya National Library Services officially handed over their services and assets in Embu to the Embu County Government in a ceremony witnessed by the Independent Governance and Rights Technical Committee (IGRTC). Madam Linet Mavu, Chairperson of IGRTC, presided over the handover, and she was accompanied by the Vice Chairperson, Madam Sandia Abdi, along with other IGRTC commissioners. Madam Mavu emphasized that the county is now free to make necessary changes in service delivery, including adjustments to labor resources, to benefit the wider public.
Mr. Cyrus Mbogo, representing the CEO of Kenya National Library, assured the county government of their support whenever needed to ensure the seamless operation of these services.

The County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Youth, Gender, Sports, and Social Services, Madam Jane Waroga, pledged to enhance the vibrancy and utility of these services for the people of Embu and its neighboring counties, with the goal of making Embu a benchmark for others.
Madam Waroga made these remarks while witnessing the handover, as the library services now fall under her department’s purview. The responsibility for the functions and assets was received by the County Secretary, Madam Amy Ruria. The CECM echoed the sentiments expressed by Madam Waroga and expressed their gratitude for the transfer of functions. They also affirmed the commitment of the Embu County Government, under the leadership of Her Excellency Governor Hon. Cecily Mbarire
