At the home of Muwanga a local liquor vender located at Ndakaru village, Namwacha – Kanduyi, one patron on a point of may-I-know asked another sitting next to him and who had just stepped back in with two colleagues why he smelt like acaricide (a pesticide that kills mites and ticks). As the man tried with difficulties to explain noises, wailing was heard before news broke of the demise of Mzungu prompting more patrons (some who were just from the crime scene) to join the conversation before demanding for a body-search on the three suspicious new faces.
The search revealed a stained machete, a bottle of acaricide chemical and documents, phones belonging to the farm manager and Hewitt.
It is at this point that it became clear that the three had earlier exited the Chang’aa den on foot leaving their motorbike behind and headed straight to Hewitt Peter David’s home where they committed the crime. Mr. Hewitt Peter David was an Australian residing in Bulondo area ~ Kanduyi Constituency. He was popularly known as Mzungu by locals
An ikuweikuwe.com rat informs; The bone of contention was the late Mr. Hewitt Peter David an Australian residing in Bulondo area had abandoned his wife after realizing that she could no longer give birth and therefore befriended her daughter who he had educated and was now a grownup. Hewitt was in a relationship with her, opened for her business at Chwele market and rented her a house for in Bungoma town.
Murder plan
According to Hewitt’s farm manager, his boss’s estranged wife Mrs Lillian Mikasia who had left in anger sometimes back following a love-triangle dispute that involved her daughter returned home unexpected on Tuesday March 7, 2023 evening.
While the farm manager was preparing food for family dogs at around 7pm, Lillian asked him to accompany her to the upper house which he obliged but were joined midway by Hewitt who wanted to be part of the visit (did not want to remain behind alone). After walking for afew meters Lillian excused herself to attend to a short call which took her about 10 minutes.
It is suspected that the thugs were well positioned to attack if Hewitt would have remained behind… but now she rushed back to inform them of the change of plan for Hewitt wasn’t staying and therefore opted for plan B which was to have them enter the house where they’d lay an ambush when Hewitt enters the house.
When she finally caught up with them at the upperhouse, she appeared to have lost interest in the visit asking that they just return back. Baffled, the two men walked back with her as Hewitt in his routine took his position around the borne-fire he normally lights outside the house at such a time.
Lillian later asked Hewitt to enter the house which he obliged as the shambaboy went to the servant’s quarter to rest.
In less than five minutes, the shamba boy heard his boss begging for mercy saying “don’t kill me”. He rushed to see what was happening and was shocked to see his boss surrounded by people violently beating him as he begged that they spare his life. Frightened, the shambaboy retreated and locked himself up in his house only to hear a loud bang a while later followed by a voice that ordered him to hand over his phone or risk having his house be burnt down. Traumatized, the poor man had no option other than throwing the phone out to them.
Neighbors who heard the commotion had gathered at the front gate but could not access the house fearing being attacked by Hewitt’s dogs. It took them time and courage to plan an entry via the rare gate to find Hewitt already dead with his estranged wife now appearing. Resident quickly resolved to go after the assassins mounting a major search with the aid of Police leading to three being arrested;
- John Bwile Wakwabubi, son to Joseph Wakwabubi from Sang’alo airport area
