UDA party has forwarded the name of former Bumula MP Hon. Mwambu Mabonga to IEBC as its nominee for Bungoma senatorial seat. This has elicited immediate reactions especially from within as aspirants, supporters cry foul.
Contacted, one of the aspirants Eng. Tim Lukorito informed ikuweikuwe.com that he was informed that the party without consulting other aspirants did forward Mwambu’s name yesterday 26th Oct 2022 as the preferred candidate with no further explanation. He further indicated that his team is putting together a petition whose deadline for submission is tomorrow 28th Oct 2022.
Mwambu on Monday informed mourners that he will be on the ballot come what may even if it means going independent.
UDA should give every aspirant a fair chance and especially follow the rule of law just like our party leader and President of the Republic of Kenya H.E. William Ruto has been preaching. We have moved to court to challenge the decision.

UDA has a right to front a candidate but if due process hasn’t been followed to allow other aspirants to contest on a free and fair platform, then that’s a matter that needs to be addressed. In any democratic process the rules of the game always apply. Am nevertheless ready for him and his party
