UDA nominations was undoubtedly going to be tough and needed aspirants to bring their A-game to get better results if not emerge victorious. Mt. Elgon MP Fred Kapondi knew this too well knowing the stallion-candidate he was up against meant business in dethroning him. Each of them mounted a spirited campaign and therefore vote-protection machinery with incidences of violence and voter bribery being reported here and there. At the end of the day Fred Kapondi emerged winner after scooping 17,300 votes
