Lawrence Sakonyi who was enroute home from Busia noticed a scuffled at Kanduyi – Bungoma opposite Generations, he and another occupant of his vehicle decided to check out just in case one of their own was involved since its within their dwelling. Immediately they got to the scene the Police pounced from nowhere with clubs and nyaunyo (whip)
The Police instead cuffed him, clobbered and continued beating the defenseless man as they escorted him to Kanduyi Police post where his brother Isaiah Sakonyi, a firebrand politician found him and upon demands for answers was told by the police that Lawrence was being beaten by some people when Police stepped in to rescue him. The Police nevertheless were unable to tell why they handcuffed him leaving the said attackers to go scot free.
They did not book him in either as an arrest or rescue but let him go when his brother demanded to know why they opted to keep him at the post undocumented instead of taking him to hospital. Lawrence is receiving treatment at Bungoma West Hospital where he has been admitted

Speaking to ikuweikuwe.com Isaiah Sakonyi who also doubles as a Bungoma Liberation official condemned the incident calling for an end to Police brutality not only in Bungoma but the entire country. He insisted that the culprits must be held responsible as he wished his brother a speedy recovery
