This article is advised by a letter I received from a victim who has together with his group members been unable to reap from their investments they were duped into venturing in… It reads;

Hi my Brother Edduh.
Long time but hope you are ok.
Thanks for helping me out the other time.
There a Lady known as Caroline Wangamati of phone number sent above.
She started a loaning scheme whose headquarters is at Mabanga (CAHANE PRIDE)
She came down to villages and recruited chamas, collected savings from them promising to give them affordable loans.
This was early last year (2020).
Am an official of one of the affected groups namely KAMUSINDE FARMERS SELF HELP GROUP located at Kamusinde market.
Our efforts to get our shares amounting to Kshs. 98,700/- has been futile as these people keep on giving us empty promises.

  • Reached, Caroline indeed confirmed that she took money from several groups but was unable to meet her end of the bargain citing challenges brought about by Covid-19 as she also indicated that some groups that had taken loans had not adequately facilitated them. She nevertheless was unable to name a single group that had benefited from the loans… She concluded by saying “they’ll have to wait until things stabilize on my side”
  • She is a sister to Bungoma County government Wycliffe Wangamati
