In Ol’Kalou, where His Excellency Governor Francis Kimemia received the Final Report on Land Audit for Ol’Kalou Town, prepared by the Taskforce on Land Issues in Nyandarua County.
Inaugurated by Governor Kimemia on December 23, 2017, the taskforce has already cleared 2,440 plots, fulfilling one of his campaign pledges.
This afternoon, the Governor directed the Department of Lands, Housing and Physical Planning to regularize ownership documents for the cleared plots and establish an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanism for 400 other plots in contention within 30 days.
Central Regional Commissioner Mr. Wilson Nyagwanga, who noted that Nyandarua is strategic within the Central Region Economic Bloc (CEREB), committed to ensure that its title deeds are released soon, especially for colonial villages.
Kipipiri legislator Hon. (Dr) Amos Kimunya, who is also Majority Leader in the National Assembly, hailed Governor Kimemia for the land reforms, which he noted will spur economic development.
Present were County Commissioner Mr. Benson Leparmorijo and his deputy Mr. Gideon Oyagi, alongside County Executive Committee Members Hon Stephen Njoroge (Finance and Economic Development and Acting County Secretary and Head of Public Service), Hon. Raphael Njui (Industrialization, Trade, Co-operatives and Urban Development) and Hon. Ann-Mary Gathigia (Youth, Sports, Gender and Social Services).
In attendance were members of the taskforce led by Chairperson Mr. Joseph Kuria and Chief of Staff Mr. Charles Wachira, among other senior National and County Government officials
