A concerned member of the public has reached out to #iKUWEiKUWE Updates with a concern that immediately led to activation of our rats in Bumula Constituency with the need to ascertain if indeed the allegations and the images seen were real. First on to-visit list was Bumula MPs office where we got a quick response via social media…
The concern that was accompanied by images read;
“The status of bridge in Bumula. It’s now the dry season; death is raging when it starts raining. This Mwomo tabuti bridge has killed 10people in 2020. Leaders don’t talk about it”
Contacted, the area MP Hon Mwambu Mabongah indicated that he had notified Bungoma County govt. of the dire need upgrade the road using the emergency kitty since it was its responsibility.
The Chief Officer Roads Mr Marango replied…
“We have awarded that road section from the Bridge to Mareba which includes the rehabilitation of the drift, it is actually a drift not a bridge. I expect that by end of January the drift should be passable”
The CEC Roads, Collins Mukhongo reiterated what his CO said adding that the rehabilitation will be temporary as they await a proper budget… He reckoned that one of such bridges require about 10 million with 43 such requests already received across the county, the need to consider equitable distribution across the 9 sub counties leaves them with the option of repairing only 10 bridges in total.

- I hope the CEC and COs responses as pertains Mwomo -Tabuti bridge are genuine… Bungoma residents deserve better road networks in Bumula as they do in Kanduyi, Mt. Elgon and Tongaren… Do your balancing act well
- #iKUWEiKUWE Updates was unable to reach West Bukusu MCA Hon. Sudi Busolo for comment although his constituents informed his being in bed with the county executive has done the West Bukusu ward more harm than good.
- How come the executive always blames the budget when this county fails development-wise?
- How come county goons, thugs and political hirelings who eat millions of our money in a given day are never referred to budgets?
- Am also reliably informed that any tender valued at 3million and above belongs to the Executive-Tender-Cartel… reason why they take long to take over sites, incomplete jobs, do shoddy jobs with zero supervision but are paid in advance…
