Blow to Wangamati as Assembly shoots down Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB) Bill shortly after receiving village admins employment shocker where MCAs declare willingness to severe its relationship with the executive if Wangamati continue to disregarding the Assembly’s mandate
Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati has today 17th Nov. 2020 suffered a blow after the County Assembly of Bungoma rejected the enactment of the LREB Bill at second reading stage shortly after village admins employment took a new twist. Coming straight from a press address which they warned Wangamati of severe relations if he chooses to ignore and belittle them and the assembly at large.
This means that they have saved the County 200 million yearly subscription to the Oparanya led outfit
Speaking to #iKUWEiKUWE Updates after the afternoon session Lwandanyi MCA Hon. Tony Barasa said;
We cannot channel 200 million yearly to construct a LREB headquarters in Kisumu (a City) when Bungoma a smaller County/town is straining to educate and employ our youths, improve infrastructure (roads, schools, staff quarters, County offices), improve water supply, equipping our vocational centers, better remuneration for our staff and of course improving healthcare etc.
The Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB) is in the process of establishing a regional bank with the 14 counties that make up the bloc agreeing to inject Sh2.8 towards the formation of the bank.
The Bloc comprises of the following 14 counties; Bomet, Bungoma, Busia, Homa Bay, Kakamega, Kericho, Kisii, Kisumu, Migori, Nandi, Nyamira, Siaya, Trans Nzoia and Vihiga.
