Why Wetangula’s relatives were quarantined

Yesterday Monday, May 18, 2020 in the evening hours a contingent of Police arrived at Mzee Dominic Wetangula’s Mukhweya home in Kabuchai. The entourage included the County Commissioner, the Medical Superintendent, Nalondo OCS, Chwele DCIO and Chwele AP commandant who upon arrival summoned Mzee Dominic, his son Joseph and daughter Viginia (Senior family members available) to come out the house for a conversation.

The visitors introduced themselves and informed the family that they are under instructions to pick two ladies who traveled from Nairobi recent to the home. At this point two ladies (we’ll call them x and y by age {y being the youngest}) were called into the meeting where they were informed that they were listed as being among those people who’d come in contact with the deceased. The two denied ever coming in contact with the late Tony… Lady Y being a nurse said she once wanted to visit but was advised against doing so by her colleagues.

At this point the two were informed that the late Tony’s wife tested positive and by extension listed all those who’d came in contact with them among them relatives/friends who paid visits…x and Y were informed that they are on that list and that’s why they’ve been tracked down. The police also questioned the authenticity of the travel document(s) they used.

They were informed that they needed to go to Webuye County Hospital for testing and will thereafter be released the following day if results turn out to be negative… with a little resistance from the ladies the team headed to Webuye with the ladies driving themselves in their car as police escorted. On reaching Webuye the facility was almost full and a decision was made to have them quarantined in Kimilili.

Tony’s wife and a child who tested positive will NOT attend tomorrow Wednesday, May 20, 2020 burial because they are in quarantine… THIS IS HOW SERIOUS THE FAMILY AND GOVERNMENT ARE TAKING THIS PANDEMIC
