KPLC SHUTS OFF POWER AT GOVERNOR LUSAKA’S OFFICE DUE TO UNPAID BILLS – SERVICES GRIND TO A HALT.
In recent days, the Office of the Governor in Bungoma County, specifically office number 039, has been grappling with a significant power crisis. This unfortunate situation has resulted in poor service delivery to the people of Bungoma, leaving them frustrated and disillusioned. As we pen this article, the office continues to remain in complete darkness due to unpaid Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) bills, which ultimately led to a disconnection of the power supply.
Although the County government offices have a standby generator, it has been rendered useless due to a lack of fuel. This has left Governor Lusaka’s office enveloped in darkness, making it difficult to carry out his duties effectively. To compensate for this setback, Governor Lusaka has resorted to working from his personal residence, starting his day early from his home in Mapema. However, this action raises concerns as it goes against Kenya’s constitution, as his residence is not gazetted to host official government functions. The voters who elected him now find themselves in a predicament, having to travel to Mapera instead of receiving services from the designated government office.
The frustration among the people of Bungoma County has reached a tipping point. The younger generation, commonly referred to as Gen Z, is considering taking legal action by challenging the governor over the poor service delivery that contradicts his promises made during his campaign. The residents of Bungoma County deserve better, and they believe that holding their elected officials accountable is crucial in ensuring effective governance.
The time has come for the common voters to unite and demand transparency, accountability, and efficient service delivery from their elected leaders. It is through the power of their voices and their determination to seek justice that positive change can be brought about. The plight of the people of Bungoma County must not be ignored, and it is imperative that their concerns are addressed promptly.
The story of the common Bungoma voter is one of resilience and determination, as they navigate the challenges brought about by the power crisis in the Office of the Governor. Their pursuit of justice and better governance serves as a beacon of hope for a brighter
