BUSIA governor conducts another Cabinet reshuffle following resignations

OJAAMONG RESHUFFLES CABINET FOLLOWING OFFICERS RESIGNATION TO CONTEST ELECTIVE POSITIONS
Busia Governor, H.E Sospeter Ojaamong has conducted mini-reshuffle to replace officers who resigned to contest for elective positions in the August General Election.
It’s the first cabinet reshuffle by the County Chief since 2020.
In the Executive Order No. 1 of 2022, Phaustine Barasa has been moved to the Department of Health and Sanitation as Substantive County Executive Committee Member.
Ms Barasa held similar position for three months between May and July 2018 before she was moved to the Department of Finance and Economic Planning in acting capacity. She will retain the same position in an acting capacity.
Barasa takes up the health docket from Deputy Governor, H.E Moses Mulomi who was executing his duties in an acting capacity. The DG resigned as CEC owing to elections regulations but retained the seat of Deputy Governor.
Moses Weunda – Chief Officer, Deputy Governor’s Office to be in charge of Service Delivery
The Governor moved Chief Officer for Fisheries, Livestock and Agribusiness, Moses Weunda to the Deputy Governor’s Office to be in charge of Service Delivery.
Patrice Lumumba who was in charge of Service Delivery is now the Chief Officer Investments and Co-operatives. Mr Nelson Kwamini is Chief Officer Trade and Industry.
Chief Officer for Water and Irrigation (Lower Region), Dr. George Tom Ekisa is now the new Chief Officer in the Department of Education and Vocational Training. He replaces Mr. Daniel Mogoria who resigned to contest the gubernatorial seat in the August 9th, polls.
Patrice Lumumba – Chief Officer Investments and Co-operatives
Communication Directorate which was under Chief Officer Lydia Nabwire who resigned to contest the seat of Busia Woman Representative is now domiciled in the Office of the Governor (Public Administration, Disaster Management and Communication) with Dr Ezekiel Okwach as Chief Officer.
ICT which was managed by Ms Nabwire is now domiciled in the Department of Finance and Economic Planning with Acting Chief Officer, CPA Nicodemus Mulaku in charge of Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Budget, ICT and Administration while Chief Officer, Joy Wanga is in charge of Economic Planning, Audit, Monitoring and Evaluation and Quality Assurance.
Dr. George Tom Ekisa – CO Department of Education and Vocational Training
The exit of Stephen Nasiagi Oyango as Chief Officer Infrastructure (upper region) to contest the Bunyala South Ward seat has left the Infrastructure and Energy Department with two chief officers.
Prisca Iserem Omoit is the Chief Officer in charge of Public Works, Roads and Transport with Eng. Gilbert Oduory to be in charge of Energy.
Department of Water, Environment, Irrigation and Natural Resources has been left with two chief officers. Hellen Mukanda is in charge of Water with Roseline Barasa in charge of Irrigation, Climate Change, Environment and Natural Resources.
