Bungoma Women Rep Hon. Catherine Wambilianga has expressed her confidence in the ongoing bipartisan talks between the Kenya Kwanza and Azimio teams that aim to foster peace and address pressing issues within the nation.

Speaking on Sunday October 8th 2023 in Seme Sub county ~ Kisumu County during the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Annual General Meeting, the lawmaker said that there is white smoke coming from the talks.

“I truly believe that these discussions will yield positive outcomes, ultimately bringing peace and tranquility to our beloved nation,” stated Wambilianga.

She commended the efforts of both teams in bringing together residents and Members of Parliament from various regions across Kenya to participate in these crucial deliberations.

The discussions that are taking place at Bomas of Kenya have been marked by the presentation of memoranda that cover a wide range of topics relevant to Kenyan society.

Hon. Wambilianga a key member of the discussion team stressed the invaluable nature of the input received from participants, emphasizing that the bipartisan team is resolute in addressing these issues fairly and justly.

“Our primary objective is to ensure that lasting peace and tranquility become a reality for our nation,” Hon. Wambilianga emphasized.

One pressing concern raised during the discussions is the absence of maternity leave for female intern teachers, a situation that demands immediate attention.

Additionally, there are concerns regarding teacher promotions by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), with fairness in the process being questioned nationwide.

Hon. Wambilianga emphasized the need to rectify these issues to ensure a fair and just system for all educators.
