Orange Democratic Movement party having resolved to incorporate consensus as one of the three methods of picking party’s candidates for various seats in the coming General Election did yesterday 7 Feb 2022 employ it to resolve a crisis that would have led to a split and possible weakening of the party support-base.

It is in the same spirit that Mr Andrew Nakitare has following mediation by Kakamega Governor and ODM deputy party leader Wycliffe Oparanya agreed to step down for Budalang’i MP Hon Raphael Wanjala for the parliamentary seat ticket.

“I was happy that I managed to bring together the two political rivals and seal the deal. The maturity exhibited by the two politicians should be emulated by other aspirants to enable the party win more seats”

~ Governor Oparanya ~

This has happened after Oparanya hosted ODM aspirants for various seats for a consultative meeting in Kakamega where Party’s National Elections Board Chairperson Catherine Muma took them through Electoral Rules and Regulations.
