LET’S INVEST IN OUR PEOPLE, DG MULOMI TELLS MCAs
Busia Deputy Governor, Moses Mulomi on Thursday 3 June 2021 urged members of County Assembly of Busia to consider investing in the people through boosting their small scale enterprises by allocating more funds to Trade and Cooperative Development Enterprise Funds.
Addressing the County Executive team and the MCAs during a six day County Project Implementation retreat in Kisumu County funded by Kenya Devolution Support Program (KDSP), DG Mulomi stated that the administration will continue to support the people of Busia through Development Enterprise Fund revealing that the loans are intended to help empower them as they learn how to manage resources.
“It’s beyond reasonable doubt that we can’t employ everyone but again our people are trying to make a living through exchange of goods,” he said.
He went on, “Busia is known for exchange of goods not only at the borders but also within the county. Therefore, I request that our honourable members should allocate funds for small scale traders to boost their growth.”
In his presentation of the implementation report for the department, Chief Officer, Nelson Kwamini appealed to the county Budget Committee to consider increasing funds allocated to the department of Trade, investment, Industry and Cooperatives to enable it provide a conducive working environment for the traders.
“We are in dire need to construct enough sanitary facilities as well as provide security to our traders in all markets to enable them work in safe and friendly environment, this will help generate more revenue to boost county operations as well as improve service delivery, ” said Mr. Kwamini.
