A section of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Bungoma members have replaced their County Coordinator Eng. Mike Malomba accusing him of not being a registered voter and turning the party into a family affair by always choosing to attend high level meetings with his wife instead of having other members join him. They have therefore replaced Mike Malomba with Christopher Wakhisi in the meeting held at Bungoma Members Club on 21st May 2021.

The irate members claimed that Mike was taking credit for their member-registration effort and have therefore stopped the entire registration exercise until the top leadership recognizes the changes. Other allegations/concerns included;
- The reasons why they want the Coordinator changed.
- UDA office at his residential place
- He is not from the majority (Bukusu)
- Running party affairs alone and avoiding team work.
- He is rude, arrogant and boastful and dishonest.
- Not presenting the challenges members are facing to the party authority.
- He runs the branch with his wife
- The members also encouraged elected leaders to emulate their Central Kenya counterparts by openly coming out to support the Party at the grassroot esp. in the recruitment exercise.
#iKUWEiKUWE has also learnt that With 29,734 members registered, Bungoma is ranked number 9 out of 47 Counties in the recruitment exercise with the 9 SubCounties having recruited as follows;

- Registration is ongoing
- Using his resources, He procures merchandise and registration booklet
- That meeting was largely attended by residents of Kanduyi Constituency
- Only 3 are registered UDA members, the rest are members of other parties who want to rock the party. LET THEM REGISTER FIRST.
- Some are masquerading as party members considering during the ended by-election they campaigned for our opponent(s)
- Kanduyi is performing so dismally in recruitment and those incharge and attended the meeting should not hide behind these allegations. Let them continue recruiting members
- He doesn’t have an office and that’s why he works from home/ car and promised to continue doing that until he gets an office
- UDA Bungoma will soon be holding a meeting to address these and other important issues
- Wakhisi is CDF manager for Sirisia
Sande Oyolo, the Kakamega County Coordinator;
- Those members have no powers to replace Malomba and it’s only the DP in consultation with the party SG and elected leaders from Bungoma (MPs) who can remove him since he was endorsed by them.
- Mike could still have attended the much publicized meeting with the DP either as a professional and/or a minority
- Mike uses his own funds to do County operations and was not given a single shilling by the DP during that visit.
- Most of those making noise are not registered members of UDA
- Based on Bungoma’s performance on recruitment, it’s impossible to change a winning team.
