Bungoma Christ the King Parish Parish under the leadership of Rev. Farther Christopher Wanyonyi started contributing funds towards the construction of the beautiful building in Feb 2014 and commenced construction in Jan 2017 after realizing 70million mainly being contributions from church members, well-wishers and friends. Up to date the church has consumed about 140million with a few other things yet to be done
The colorful event held today Saturday, 8 May 2021 needs no much literature from me beyond a mention of the leaders in attendance who included;
- The Guest of honor… Hubertus Matheus Maria van Megen – Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya and South Sudan
- The Clergy;
- Hundreds from Catholic Church
- Tens from other Churches
- Politicians; Governor Wangamati, Senator Wetangula, Hon. Wamunyinyi, Hon. Mwambu Mabonga, Hon. Chris Wamalwa, Assembly Speaker Emmanuel Situma, Hon Juma Nyongesa, Hon Majimbo Okumu, Hon. Maguda, Hon. Wapangana, Hon. Lusenaka, Former Assembly Speaker Hon. John Makali, CO Denson, CO Chris, KNUT Executive Secretary Ken Nganga
Leaders prayed together for their various needs
According to Catholic tradition, the Catholic Church was founded by Jesus Christ. The New Testament records Jesus’ activities and teaching, his appointment of the twelve Apostles, and his instructions to them to continue his work. Work that has been carried on by his present time disciples who have never shied away from ensuring the church grows bigger and better than they found it.
