Busia Town residents have a reason to smile as the National Government through Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has initiated plans to expand the road from the One Stop Border Post towards Road Block. KeNHA and Trademark East Africa (TMEA) which are the main financiers, have agreed to commence procurement processes for the execution of two key projects in Busia County.
The Two projects are;
  • The Malaba outstanding and additional works
  • Busia One Stop Border Post (OSBP) approach road works.
The Scope of work for the Busia OSBP road works will involve dialing of the main road from One Stop Border Post towards Korinda with motorcycles, bicycles access and pedestrian walk. Malaba will involve completion of roadworks and building works at the Malaba Border Post.
This was revealed after an online meeting between stakeholders from KeNHA, TMEA, KRA and the County Government of Busia through the Infrastructure and Energy Department which was represented by the County Roads Engineer Mr.Paul Atelu.
The two projects will be advertised for eligible Contractors to apply in the course of the month.
Advert;
The two projects once complete will reduce the congestion caused by trucks in the two border towns which has over the years been a burden to the residents of Busia County.
The meeting came after a clarion call from leaders in the County led by Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong and Matayos MP Geoffrey Odanga.
