Mr. Otundo attributes Jire’s good performance to the stiff competition he received from Ivy Wamalwa who towards the tail-end of their studies showed Jire dust all the time in their assignments. This is what advised teachers knowing very well Jire’s potential to put a lot of pressure on him, pressure that bore fruits as indicated by the result. Teachers nevertheless expected Ivy to come tops courtesy her resilience to remain tops upto the time they sat for the KCPE exam. They were therefore surprised that Jire pipped Ivy to the tape. He concluded by saying generally girls perform much better than boys as he thanked parents and teachers for pulling towards better results, 406 is the highest the school has ever achieved.
Ivy Wamalwa a girl who emerged second with 396 marks said; having been under the care of her financially challenged grandmother, she experienced tough financial moments through her studies.
When asked why he wishes to join Maranda High Jire informed #iKUWEiKUWE that he was asked by his teacher to change his initial choice (Nairobi schools) to Maranda and therefore wishes to stick to that.
#iKUWEiKUWE Corner;
- While at Ranje primary School I took time to tour the school’s facilities. What caught my attention are the delapidated classrooms and an incomplete staff room, a project that was initiated by Hon. Alfred Khangati during his 2007-2013 term but was incomplete by the time Hon. Wafula Wamunyinyi took over in 2013. The classrooms also need a facelift while the staff room needs completion.
- I must also say I was impressed by the progress of the dining hall construction whose completion will give the institution a facelift and a structural advantage over most of its peers in the region. Having said that,.. since Mheshimiwa has set precedence of not completing his predecessor’s projects… I wish to encourage him to ensure he completes his projects so that just in case he leaves office we won’t see incomplete structures in the schools after change of guards
