MD ACCUSED OF TOO MUCH PR, NO SALARIES/PAYMENTS
Nzoia Sugar factory on 16th Dec 2020 caught fire twice in a single day, in incidences whose causes are yet to be established although there are reports of disquiet and go-slow among workers/contractors early in the day over pay. They accuse the MD of prioritizing public relations (PR) stunts as opposed workers’ salaries and/or welfare in general.
1st fire: Nuclear, 3 sugar cane fields were burnt down via what’s believed to be an arson attack… suspects include cane cutters, farm workers who have been demanding for salaries/payment in arears.
2nd fire: Yard, its suspected that it was set on fire by a tractor driver and/or yard workers who were on a go-slow in the morning
Suspect Arrested;
A tractor driver suspected to have set the yard on fire was arrested on 16th Dec 2020 and will therefore be arraignment in court on Thursday 17th Dec 2020
This is the fourth time this is happening within a month:
- 19th Nov 2020 (yard fire)
- On 15th Dec. 2020 (yard fire)
- On 16th Dec 2020 (twice – yard and nuclear)
County attempts to block Khetias engine
BUNGOMA FIRE SERVICES was unable to help forcing Khetias Supermarket fire fighting engine to step in as the Roads depart bosses frantically made phone calls to stop Khetias fire fighting engine from accessing Nzoia Sugar for the sole reason that it would expose the County’s Fire Service weaknesses. The County’s old Land rover that has been in use lately is now grounded… Meaning the fire service depart is officially dead and Bungoma residents are on their own incase of fire(s)
It must be noted that all business persons pay for fire fighting services as they acquire business permits…
⛔Police Harassment;
Following #iKUWEiKUWE exposé titled BUNGOMA EMERGENCY RESPONSE DEPART ON ITS DEATHBEATH, CHIEF OFFICER ON THE SPOT… I highlighted Bungoma County’s inability to handle fire which has earned an ignorant employee numerous THREATS including calls from THE SAME NAIROBI POLICE OFFICER Wangamati used to UNFAIRLY arrest Francis (Assembly) and Prof. Nyukuri (Activist – Wangamati’s impeachment petitioner) before cooking and planting enough accusations on them.

- MD Makokha should consider toning down on PR and high-handedness as he prioritizes workers/contractors welfare
- Wangamati should stop joking around with people’s lives… Why invest millions in police harassment instead of using the funds to repair our fire engines. What will happen if/when a County office catches fire? or even worse a business block within town?
- Chief Officer Marango is unable to run this depart. He is more concerned about road contracts… Let the Fire Service unit be transferred to the Public Administration and management depart (special program unit)
- Chief Officer Marango should stop intimidating juniors using corrupt policemen… #iKUWEiKUWE will be naming the true identity of the corrupt policeman soon
- So the County govt. department wanted to stop Khetias assistance so that the factory burns down completely? Which kind of reasoning is this? or this is plan to use known Executive-tender-cartels to acquire new engines???
- While other Counties are beefing up emergency services, Bungoma County is investing in goons and militias (see Mandera images below)
