Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s decision to have Bobi Wine arrested has sparked Countrywide demonstrations by his supporters demanding his immediate and unconditional release. The incumbent, an NRM candidate and a soldier by design seems keen to hold onto power using all means and has opted to frustrate campaigns of the seemingly more popular Bobi and Patrick
Taking to Twitter Bobi wrote;
“Police under the command of Mwesigwa Frank of counter terrorism police has violently broken into Hon Kyagulanyi’s car and arrested him at Luuka District headquarter grounds
Upon reaching Jinja, Hon Kyagulanyi has been detained at the famous Nabukenya torture house. The price of freedom is high but we shall certainly overcome.
Resistance against tyranny is not only a right. It is a DUTY for oppressed people to carry out!”
The Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) Presidential candidate Mugisha Muntu suspended his campaigns until his colleagues in the race for election Patrick Amuriat of FDC and Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine are released from detention.
Mugisha wrote on Twitter;
“We have decided to pause our presidential campaign activities until our colleagues Bobi Wine and Patrick Amuriat are released and their freedom to campaign guaranteed. We call upon government to recognize that this isn’t business as usual”
At this rate it’s obvious even with the overwhelming Covid-19 pandemic we are facing as a country, We must prepare to shoulder the burden of a peaceless neighbour. By so saying I mean… Our leadership must prepare for the worst if the chaos go full blown.
