“However to ensure we also keep Covid-19 protocols, we request that ONLY essential staff report for duty as had earlier been advised”
In a press statement received by #iKUWEiKUWE Updates from the Director of Communications Mr. Tim Machi, The CECM Health and Sanitation ~ Dr. Antony Walela announced and therefore indicated that the executive is alive to the fact that Covid-19 spread is on the rise having reported 118 cases at Bungoma Prisons and 6 cases elsewhere…
“However to ensure we also keep Covid-19 protocols, we request that ONLY essential staff report for duty as had earlier been advised” read the last bit of the statement that officially declared that the county govt is partially shut down
By so doing Walela did the right thing that was long overdue after word went round that Bungoma County executive is under Covid-attack. He nevertheless cunningly stayed clear off the fact that Wangamati was one of the Covid-19 patients choosing to inform the public that the governor was just resting as he takes precautions by staying at home contrary to public knowledge that even Kanduyi MP was refused entry into Wangamati’s Ndengelwa home last Saturday morning.

Residents have been eager to hear from the County Executive over the health of Governor Wangamati, Chief-of-staff Chenane and Advisor Chelong in vain. Today’s statement did not offer any satisfactory information on the health status of the three who are among 6 executives who are alleged to be Covid-19 positive.

The means of releasing the statement has raised eyebrows in the entire media fraternity since it was just send electronically leaving no room for asking/answering of pertinent questions that may arise… like;
- Wangamati turned away teachers (Buticoh officials) on Monday 5th Oct 2020 after inviting them to his Ndengelwa home…. They were not allowed to go past the gate despite the fact that they could see him from a distance surrounded by people in white aprons. Why?
- Why were there doctors in white aprons at Wangamati’s home on Monday 5th Oct?
- Why was Kanduyi MP turned away on Saturday… he too never went past the gate…
- Why hasn’t governor even taken the initiative of addressing the County electronically?
- Word has it that Wangamati was in an Eldoret hospital receiving treatment today morning, True?
- Can the executive confirm and deny that Chelongo and Chenane are hospitalized at BCRH and therefore are Covid-19 patients?
- Where is the governor’s driver (John), PA Stan, CO Denson, Governor’s secretaries….? Are they Covid-19 positive and/or have they taken Covid-19 test? Are they observing Covid-19 guidelines as they receive treatment if any?
- Have all the executives taken the Covid-19 test? Results? Any positive case?
- Etc etc……
The County Assembly following its closure on 13/10/2020 for 14 days saw MCAs continue taking covid-19 tests for the second day running at Bungoma County Referral Hospital (BCRH)

#iKUWEiKUWE rat in the corridors of power informs that Chenane and Chelongo are at Bungoma County Referral hospital under tight security. No visitors are allowed to visit them apart from selected family members and County staff… in fact one patient lost his life at BCRH today morning after it emerged that the only oxygen available was reserved for one of the two (name deliberately withheld). The patient died after waiting for 5 hours in vain.
