Upcoming County Assemblies Forum meeting faces attendance hitches

UPCOMING COUNTY ASSEMBLIES FORUM MEETING FACES ATTENDANCE HITCHES

The County Assemblies Forum is scheduled to hold a meeting on 16^th October 2020 for Western region MCAs drawn from Busia, Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Vihiga and Kakamega Counties at Busia ATC grounds. The meeting’s agenda is;

1. 1. Members Welfare
   2. Lake Region Economic Block pillars
   3. Consultations with western Governors

The meeting will be chaired by Kakamega Governor and Chairperson Council of Governors H.E. Wycliffe Oparanya

MCAs are expected to travel on 15^th October and back on 17^th Oct. 2020

A section of Bungoma County MCAs have nevertheless indicated that they won’t turn up for this meeting for among other reasons;

• Covid-19 guidelines on crowds
• Some feel the meeting is crafted to advance the BBI agenda which is NOT a priority
• The Council of Governors chair has been in office for the second year now but has not considered looking into MCAs welfare before.
• It’s NOT in the Assembly’s work-plan
• They suspect its meant to dupe the President and Rt. Hon. Raila that governors have a huge command in their respective Assemblies where in Bungoma for example Wangamati controls only 11 – 13 out of 60 depending on the dangled carrot.
