Kazi Mtaani Program kicks off on a high in Bungoma
The second phase of the Kazi Mtaani program that was commissioned by PS Harry Kimutai and Governor Wangamati on Friday, July 17, 2020 in Muslim Area of Musikoma Ward – Kanduyi is meant to underwrite the labour costs for the National government while county governments provide resources for the projects development including materials and technical designs. Kazi Mtaani is a social protection scheme that engages youths from vulnerable households in productive activities for a pay as a way of cushioning them from the vagaries of life. The programme covers informal settlements in Chwele in Kabuchai, Kimilili and Mjini in Kanduyi Sub Counties.
In the first phase of Kazi Mtaani 31,689 Kenyans in eight counties worked on the national initiative designed to cushion the most vulnerable but able-bodied citizens living in informal settlements from the effects and response strategies of the COVID-19 pandemic.
About 270,000 Kenyans were enlisted in this program that Kicked off on Monday, July 20, 2020

Bungoma Kazi Mtaani initiative kicked off well with youths doing a good job opening up a neglected road behind Muslim secondary school all the way to Dismus area to the intersection of Musikoma – Samoya road. The road is now motorable and clear… thanks to the devoted youths
Each youth is paid Kshs. 455/= daily for 11 days, working for 6 months and 2 weeks

From a security perspective engaging over 2400 youths who are unemployed will drastically reduce insecurities in our towns and villages; make them productive and to be good citizens who are active participants in community development in the spirit of Harambee as conceptualized by our founding fathers…
