During speeches Hon Eseli found himself in trouble when he introduced politics, a move that was not received well by the farmers who heckled him and telling him politicians are the ones who’ve brought down the factory by receiving pay for supplying air, and politicking about the debt write-off only for farmers to discover that the debt was NEVER written off. He was forced switch to Sugarcane matters by farmers who started shouting… MIWAAAA, MIWAAAA, MIWAAAA (sugargane x3)
Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati took to the podium with his usual (I am boss) attitude. He underestimated the angry farmers, sounding a warning that was meant to intimidate those who were heckling. He warned them that as a governor of Bungoma he would not allow heckling in his meeting(s)… SHOCK ON HIM… they heckled him even more. One farmer was heard reminding Wangamati that it’s thru a company that he is associated with that Nzoia Sugar Co. pension scheme was milked dry. The visibly defeated governor had to change the topic and quickly started talking about the Nzoia Sugar Company issues.
EARLIER, Tangatanga MPs Didmus Barasa and Dan Wanyama stormed the Nzoia meeting, a meeting they had not been invited to but felt they are stakeholders and must be part of the process. Barasa was received with loud cheers as he strode into the function,
In his speech;
- He warned the govt. against selling Nzoia Sugar Co. like it did to Pan Paper mills
- Debt write-off certificate; The govt. must write-off the debt and not making political statements like the way a former CS Agriculture
