Sabaot elders and youths @ Eldoret Noble hotel

Sabaot Elders and Youths on Friday, June 26, 2020 held a meeting at Eldoret Noble hotel and later issued a press statement to remind BBI steering committee about the Sabaot problems and interests presented to BBI on 9/03/2020 at Laico Hotel Nairobi.

Mt Elgon. KNUT Executive secretary who read a signed memorandum stressed the following:

    1. Creation of Mt. Elgon County
    2. Division of Mt. Elgon constituency into three constituencies
    3. Government’s attention  to historical and land justices etc…

Former Mt. Elgon MP, Hon. Wilberforce Kisiero and former Saboti nominated MP Hon. Samuel Moiben added that Sabaot people had been scattered by the colonialists and successive governments did not help the community to return to former land. They further lamented that Mt Elgon Constituency was created by the colonial Lancaster Constitution in 1962 and was among the four Constituencies in the former Bungoma district but the other three have since been split into 8 constituencies but Mt Elgon has remained so to-date.

Related;

Hon. Faustine Kipkech Naibei said it was difficult for Sabaot people to coordinate development and various community issues because the head, body, heart etc were scattered in different places which is unheard-of in other communities.

Those present included : Hon Wilberforce Kisiero, Hon Samuel Moiben, Faustine K. Naibei, Stephen Chemonges KNUT Mount, Elgon Chelogoi KNUT Trans Nzoia county, Dr. Hillary Ndiema, Morgan Kororio, Amos Kirong, Masuti Chemasuet, Martin Simotwo, Hon Mokin Ptang’uny and Lawrence Kimtai
