They called us Tangatanga then, now they want to replicate us

PRESS STATEMENT ON SUNDAY JUNE 14, 2020.

It is hypocrisy of unimaginable proportions for Cabinet Secretaries from Western Kenya to suddenly realise that the region has been lacking development despite their high positions in government.

The sugar, cotton and maize industry did not start hailing this year. It has been suffering for over two decades. These Cabinet Secretaries know it. They have all along known that there has been no deliberate effort to save the sectors.

In fact there has been a deliberate campaign to kill the sectors by the successive governments they have served in or supported.

What the Cabinet Secretaries are engaging in is yet another round of selfish politics to hoodwink voters ahead of the 2022 General elections.

We know who these Cabinet Secretaries are campaigning for. We will decampaign them at whatever cost. Our region will not be used again.

When we went round with the Deputy President to launch or commission real tangible projects, they called us Tangatanga. Now they have realised we were serious about development and they want to replicate us.

The people of western Kenya are wiser. They know who is doing development and who is doing politics. In any case what development will be done in the remaining 2 years of this government? Where are the resources in the middle of the Covid19 pandemic?

Hon. Didmus Wekesa Barasa Ogw
Member of Parliament, Kimilili Constituency.
