Sabuni Mulisombo a Bungoma County Governor’s partisan employee on Saturday, May 16, 2020 hosted about 30-40 people at his Kamusinde home in Kimilili Constituency. A gathering whose agenda was last Thursday’s change of guard at the County Assembly of Bungoma where several leaders were shown the door. Of concern was the Leader of Majority, a seat which was initially occupied by Maeni MCA, Hon. Florence Wekesa (FORD KENYA) who was replaced by Tuuti/Marakaru MCA, Hon. Juma Nyongesa (FORD KENYA)

An #iKUWEiKUWE rat present at the meeting indicates that participants denounced the changes saying they will not accept a seat meant for Kimilili to be taken by Kanduyi. Participants were assured that the gathering had the blessings of Governor Wangamati, Hon. Florence Wekesa, Hon. David Eseli and Hon. Wafula Wamunyinyi and that they therefore had what it takes to overturn what they termed as “illegal and unprocedural” changes.

At the end of the meeting… Mulisombo rewarded each participant 1,000/= being sitting allowance.

In a rejoinder: FORD KENYA’s Bungoma County Secretary General Prof. Sefa Wachana encouraged members of the party to shun sideshows. He said “…We cannot micro-manage the County assembly and therefore I wish to inform party members that there isn’t a problem with the Thursday’s changes as long as the replacement came from within the party.” Prof. Wachana also demanded of party members to rally behind the party leader to ensure its agenda is delivered. He also emphasized the need for Party members to strictly adhere to the #COVID-19 guidelines on gatherings.

#iKUWEiKUWE author’s take:

Section 16 of the Public Officers Ethics Act requires public officers not to engage in any political activity that may compromise or be seen to interfere with the neutrality of their office.

Mr. Sabuni Mulisombo acting on instructions or not from Wangamati and/or any other leader MUST therefore be reminded that what he is doing is ILLEGAL and punishable. In fact his mere involvement in the embattled MCA’s defence is in itself a confirmation that she was in bed with the governor which affected her ability to execute her mandate without undue influence from Wangamati. This proves that the 35 MCAs we right to remove her

The participation of public officers and use of public resources in political activities politicise and create anarchy and patronage in the public service and other appointive positions, thereby undermining the Constitution

Where did Musilombo get about 40,000 to dish out?
