During President Kenyatta’s state address he made several announcements on what the govt has put in place to combat coronavirus… Among them:
?Covid-19: National Treasury moves to Parliament to offer
- Increased disposable income. Tax relief for persons earning a gross monthly income for persons earning up to 24k.
- Reduction of PAYE from 30 percent to 25 per cent.
- Reduction of corporate tax from 30 per cent to 25 percent
- Reduction of turn over tax rate from 4 to 3 per cent.
- Temporary suspension of the listing with the CRB for SMEs, Firms effective 1st April 2020 (April fools day)
?National Treasury to reduce VAT from 16 to 14 per cent.
?KRA to expediate the payment of all VAT refund claims within 3 weeks.
?Ksh1 billion be released for recruitment of additional health workers to support in the management of Covid-19
?Voluntary reduction in salaries of senior ranks of GoK officials
Presidency – 80 percent
CS – 30 percent
CAS – 30 percent
?President Kenyatta says curfew will be as from Friday 27th March 2020 from 7pm to 5am.
