Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi was today Saturday September 25, 2021 installed as an elder and therefore endorsed for the 2022 Presidential race in an event that was graced by among others; Makueni Governor Prof. Kivutha Kibwana, Central Kenya Spokesperson Hon. Martha Karua, Bungoma Deputy Governor Prof. Charles Ngome and Agric CEC Makanda Mukisu
The rare event demands that only after an elder dies is when the next is installed. Mukhisa takes over from former President Daniel Arap Moi who was installed 1978 taking over from Senior Chief Jonathan Barasa who was installed 1962
Participants were mainly members of Councils of elders, Clan chairmen, leaders and youth from the wider western region and beyond. Elders from Central Kenya and Makueni also attended the glamorous event.
Martha, Kivutha and I will strive to ensure that Kenyan politics is driven by Manifesto ~ Mukhisa
In his speech Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi reiterated that his eyes are on Presidency and he does not have any thoughts of backtracking for he knows he can change this country’s economy for starters. He indicated that he will as always distance himself from politics of “insults” and concentrate on talking to other regional leaders in a bid to achieve the elusive Luhya unity before he goes out to engage the rest of the national leaders.
Martha Karua reminded the gathering that she is interested in the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat as Mukhisa and Kibwana eye Presidency. She asked voters to vote wisely in the coming elections for doing contrary to that will lead to poor service delivery and therefore voters will blame themselves. She concluded by asking voters to shun the politics of handouts

Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi is a Kenyan politician who served as Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, UNCTAD from September 2013-February 2021 when he stepped down in favor of his political ambitions
Taking to his Facebook account, Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana wrote:
Witnessing the installation of Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi as a Bukusu elder and spokesperson at his Tongaren home, Bungoma County.
Mukhisa, Martha Karua, myself and other likeminded leaders will continue to work together to build a leadership based on ideology and not who can insult the other most.
All of us are capable presidential candidates
with equal abilities. We therefore come together on the basis of aspiring to engender genuine change in our country’s leadership and not to share positions.
