A Bungoma court on 13th Jan 2025 ruled that there isn’t enough evidence to proceed with a case that had seen two men arraigned in court with among others murder charges. An incident that happened at Mupeli area in Bungoma town on Thursday 5th Dec. 2024 claimed a young mother as her child sustained serious wounds from the arson attack.
According to Godfrey Awinja the area village elder who saw the four suspected assailants minutes before the unfortunate incident, indicates that this attack was actually targeted to kill him by those doing LOTTO business in Bungoma town and its environs. He went ahead to say he actually recognized two individuals out of the four he saw that fateful night;

Speaking to ikuweikuwe.com The two who were arrested and detained for days before the initial court appearance distanced themselves from the incident
The case has now been referred back to Director of Public Persecution (DPP) for further investigations. This has brought relief to the two accused men who say; We also want to know the real culprit and therefore clear our names.
The victims family on the other hand feels justice has been delayed and therefore denied. “We are waiting to see what the DPP will advice and will therefore continue fighting for the justice that has been postponed by court” said Godfrey Awinja
