Moments after West Bukusu Member of the County Assembly (MCA) Hon. Mukoyandali Job led angry residents into blocking the Nairobi – Malaba highway while protesting the death of three family members via a road accident on 8th Jan 2025 at Mayanja Kibuke area, A multi-agency team comprising of Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA), The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) visited the area and held an impromptu meeting with the area Member of the County Assembly (MCA).
Concerns raised by residents include;
- Lack of road signs
- High rate of accidents

They resolved to implement the following between Monday 13th Jan 2025 and Friday 17th Jan 2025
- Rumble strips and bumps
- 50 Km/h speed limit signs from Buema to Weyeta.
- Pedestrian crossings at Mayanja junction, Ng’oli junction and at Buema Primary.
- Safety road signs from Siritamu to Weyeta
- All required Road markings from Siritamu to Weyeta.
- 50km/h speed limit to be effected from Siritamu – Mupeli section.
