Pastor Gilbert Wambalaba and Alfred a church Matulo Quaker Church official are men under siege following what the Elgon Religious Society of Friends Church terms as misconduct during public church functions. Through a demand letter dated 1st Aug 2023 the Quaker church’s Presiding Clerk ERSF Mr. Timothy Wanyonyi, Pastor Wambalaba has been asked to explain why action should not be taken against him based on his conduct at two separate functions:
- 29th July 2023 ~ The burial of Mama Ruth Masinde at Matulo
- Dec 2022 ~ The Annual Youth meeting held at Nang’eni

Pastor was therefore asked to table an explanation for his actions.
An ikuweikuwe.com rat informs that at Mama Ruth’s burial, Pastor Wambalaba took over the microphone as the preacher of the day to deliver a sermon after the family took too long to eulogize their loved one. This therefore amounted to going against the church protocol which dictates that one Alfred who is a local church leader becomes the automatic Mcee. Pastor also denied a Mr. Timothy who is a senior Church member an opportunity to speak citing lack of time. An attempt by Timothy to take over the program fell on deaf ears.
The Quaker church leadership is nevertheless finding it rough convincing its members on why such “jungle laws” are being used in the Church. One member has dared the church leadership to show where that rule is enshrined in the church constitution if not the bible.
