The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has paid Kshs 88million in claims lodged by victims of injury from wild animals and to families for the loss of their kin due to attacks by Wildlife between 2014 -2021. Residents who lost their crops to damage by elephants and domestic animals devoured by lions, leopards and hyenas have also been compensated.
Courtesy of the office of Senator, the Makueni Wildlife Compensation Committee was formed and gazette by the CS for Wildlife and Environment . This is a great outcome for the people of Makueni. The concerned persons can visit the Senators offices in Emali, Makindu, Kibwezi and Kambu for hardcopies of the report. This list is by no means exhaustive. We will continue advocating for faster processing of these claims
