New-look Kapenguria Law Courts

West Pokot Governor Prof. John Lonyang’apuo today 22 Feb 2022 hosted Chief Justice Hon. Martha Koome who paid him a courtesy call before proceeding to Kapenguria for the opening of a new Court building. The Court being monumental as the name Kapenguria stands tall in the history of Kenya for it is the place where the Kapenguria Six were detained during the struggle for Independence.

CJ Koome informed of plans to establish Court Stations in every sub-County in the County as well as rolling out of Small Claims-Courts below KShs. 1million. In addition, she indicated that the Judiciary is seeking to construct Courts in Alale, Pokot North and Sigor in Pokot Central where they currently hold mobile courts. This will help residents access Justice for instance a place like Alale which is 193km away from Kapenguria.

On his part, Prof. Lonyang’apuo insisted that his administration will continue working closely with the Judiciary to deepen access to justice for all residents
