KSHS. 89 MILLION MEANT FOR YOUTH AND WOMEN SITTING AT BUNGOMA BANKS – SHEBESH

Bungoma County on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 played host to the Youth and Gender Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Rachel Shebesh and her entourage who came armed with goodies for Bungoma Youth, Women and People Living with Disabilities. Her host County Commissioner Kimenti and governor Wycliffe Wangamati were on standby to engage her and put their agreement to pen and paper. After their meeting the CAS and governor made a press briefing to issue highlights of the of the occasion

Shebesh in her speech informed the public that the National government has disbursed Kshs. 35 million to Bungoma towards; ▪️ Youth fund ▪️ UWEZO fund ▪️ Women Enterprise fund. She informed the public that the loans being offered are interest free and has a friendly grace period

She indicated that the government was looking forward to increase the disbursement to 100 million monthly as she took advantage of the moment to encourage youth and women not to shy away from taking loans informing them that even President Uhuru Kenyatta has loans

In what looked like a way of bashing the County government, she announced that there sits 89 million shillings at the banks for Bungoma use. This prompted governor Wycliffe Wangamati to quickly throw the blame to Bungoma Populace asking them to develop the culture of taking loans for development purposes.

The Youth and Gender Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary said that the is need to devolve funds to train youths as the government looks forward to have 30,000 youths devolved to the counties yearly. She alluded that Bungoma county is capable of training 1,000 youths and more at a cost of 124,000. This she said will be achieved through a partnership between the National and Bungoma gov’ts to form Bungoma Youth Service

The former Nairobi County Women Rep further assured of a continued partnership with the office of the first lady to ensure women are safe from gender based violence saying that GBV Numbers have increased so are teenage pregnancies and there is great need to come up with plans to safeguard young girls and there was no other individual on her mind other than Bungoma first lady whose fashion is unmatched

Governor Wycliffe Wangamati upon introducing the new County Commissioner, Mr. Kimenti he thanked Shebesh for visiting before outlining features of their engagement;

  1. CREATE AWARENESS; County Govt. needs to find ways to raise participation of Bungoma people in the three funds; ▪️ Youth fund ▪️ UWEZO fund ▪️ Women enterprise fund.
    • More forums to be created to engage Youth, Women and PWDs more create awareness and therefore make it easy to access these funds
  1. BUNGOMA YOUTH SERVICE: Trained in Paramilitary and general skills for youths 18-25 years
  1. CHEQUES:
  • Bungoma Youth Fund  3.7 million
  • Uwezo Fund               14.27 million
  • Women Fund              20.1 million

#iKUWEiKUWE findings/take;

Once again Wangamati thru unnecessary PR showed the World how desperate he is to show that his govt is working:

  1. He successfully pleaded with the National Govt. that the Uwezo Fund RE-LAUNCH that was initially scheduled to take place at the County Commissioner’s office on the same day be held at the governor’s offices… It was graced by SHEBESH
  2. The very event was time-barred for the Funds disbursement kicked-off way before this day and has been ongoing
  3. Some of the groups that were paraded to be receiving the funds actually had already received by the time the PR exercise was conducted.

Some funds from the kitty are yet to be disbursed though and yet we got many needy groups that have been waiting for the funds… The Gov’t must release the funds IMMEDIATELY

An #iKUWEiKUWE member’s concern: ??

This government is useless. Just seen a convoy of almost 10 4×4 vehicles with 3 police escorts cars headed to town only to be told it was Shebesh going to Huduma center.

… All these in the name of showing us that people are working???? Such a wasteful government(s)

NOTE: All the government needs to do is make the fund available for all… Let the public know of the availability of the funds and the requirements/qualifications. The issue of giving the funds to politically correct groups as opposed to those who are willing, able to make good use of the fund… must be discouraged
