TO: THE SECRETARY/CEO,

Bungoma County Public Service Board.

Dear sir/madam,

RE:THE PLIGHT OF GRADUATE MEDICAL LABORATORY OFFICER IN THE COUNTY.

Reference is herein made to the above stated subject.

I have noted with concern that all the county advertisements for job offers in medical laboratory sciences, specifically the UHC program and the county 3-year contract advert were discriminative to some MLOS. I have personally applied for the county medical laboratory technologist position thrice without any luck of being shortlisted. This in itself hurts bearing in mind the vast experience I have accrued in the diagnostic realm. The simple most feedback to me is always over qualification. But now, I have these questions, does over qualification only apply to a few MLOS? Does over qualifications depend on who you know at the CPSB or the county? Certainly, most of us are sons and daughters of peasants, born and raised in difficulties, studied on loans and bursaries, the only probable breadwinners in the family yet with four years experience, nothing worthy can come out of us. I ask these questions because am aware of MLOS employed under the county 3 year contract and the first UHC program. What makes them special than us? Doesn’t over qualification apply to them? Could it be because they know people from high offices? Could it be that the have known surnames? Or could it be because they paid for those jobs? I have personally tried to get this job because I know my state. Put aside the over qualification issue and let’s have equality. I actually knew the terms before I applied so that means am in tandem with whatever pay that accompanies the advert. Please put yourself in my shoe or rather ask yourself, what if it were your son or daughter? It hurts a lot even to just imagine. Please do something.

As I conclude, I understand the board has men and women of integrity, who shall pursue our plight and act accordingly. I believe and pray that some action shall be forthcoming. I look forward for your positive feedback.

Thank you in advance.

YOURS FAITHFULLY,

WEKESA DEVIS.
